Lover’s Heart Update
July 21, 2007 at 3:01 pm | Posted in Acrylic Paintings, Fine Art, Folk Art, Heart, Love, Paintings, Woodburnings | 3 CommentsHello everyone, so nice to see you!
Here is an update to my Lover’s Heart wood burning. I have added many layers of varnish and some paint to it since last update. The paint is to give it some color, color representative of a lover’s heart and to simplify the composition.
Baby Ali will be up as soon as I can get a new photo.

July 12, 2007 at 2:53 am | Posted in Acrylic Paintings, Fine Art, Folk Art, Moon, Nature, Paintings | 2 CommentsThe unveiling of Miss Mooney is quite a shock if you don’t know the ending. So, tune back in a few days to see the completed painting and you will not be so alarmed, as Miss Mooney will have all her charms and makeup on then. She has a fine and handsome frame in the works as well. I just can’t wait to see her all done up in her Sunday bests! Can you?
Well I’m so excited about this one and I hope you will be too. Why I could fall right out of my rocker if I’m not careful.

Miss Mooney
I dreamed this one up one stormy night when I needed more peaceful things to think about. Therefore, I set my mind to figuring out what would give me some comfort on this fitful night, Miss Mooney came to my mind, and I could never get her out. Now I am showing her to you.
I hope she will be as fun for you as she is to me and Baby Ali said to tell everyone Hello and that he will be revealing frame and all soon. Thank you so much for your interest and support.

It is sure to be filled with passion. I have tried to create a flow that is pleasing as beauty is to lovers.

Baby Ali
July 3, 2007 at 3:22 am | Posted in Acrylic Paintings, Alligators, Cattails, Fine Art, Folk Art, Lily Pads, Nature, Paintings, Wildlife | 2 CommentsBaby Ali is an alligator that you are sure to see grow in the coming times of Jolly Holly Folky Art where Neon Moss swamp creatures come to life. The painting is not quite finished though it is close and the frame is near to completion.
Baby Ali is an acrylic painting on birch cabinet grade plywood primed with seven layers of Golden gesso. The acrylics I used are the very top of the line. I also used ceramic stucco to texture the lily pads and cattails.
The multi-layered technique I used gives a perceived depth and a richness that is beautiful in appearance.

My goal for this painting is for it to be simply beautiful and fun! Have I been successful? I look forward to hearing your comments. Thank you so much for stoppin’ by to take a lookin’ at what is cookin’ at Jolly Holly Folky Art!
Jolly Holly’s Biography
July 1, 2007 at 12:48 pm | Posted in Acrylic Paintings, Art Statement, Encaustics, Fine Art, Folk Art, Nature, Paintings, Wildlife, Woodburnings | 1 CommentHolly grew up in La Fayette, Georgia. During her elementary and middle school years, Holly enjoyed art. Growing up, Holly dreamed of becoming an author of children’s books and illustrating her own pictures. She seemed to win any coloring contest she entered.
Holly’s first year in high school was when she took her last art class. She started to think she didn’t have the art abilities everyone else did in her class, so Holly stopped enjoying art and would not draw or paint for several years.
Holly went to Berry College graduating in 2001 with a bachelor’s degree. She was a psychology major and business minor. She continued her education by earning her master’s degree in industrial/organizational psychology from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.
While at UTC, she met Boyd Greene a wildlife and nature artist. Boyd got Holly into enjoying art again. She began to work on wood burning and started painting and drawing again.
Today, Holly works as a Human Resources Manager and paints in her spare time for fun and relaxation.
She plans to start using encaustics along with wood burning and acrylics in the future, as the medium really speaks to her and goes well with the simple and bold patterns she develops in her artworks.
Holly’s Art Statement
June 30, 2007 at 5:48 pm | Posted in Acrylic Paintings, Art Statement, Fine Art, Folk Art, Nature, Paintings, Woodburnings | 3 CommentsArt to me is calming. It is a way for me to forget my day at work and get lost in a make believe world I call Neon Moss with fun characters that make me smile. I hope that my folk art brings joy to everyone that views it.
